Woman falls to death from popular city lookout

A woman has been confirmed dead after a fall from the top of a lookout at a popular peak. ROAD CLOSURES, UPDATES.

A spokesman for the Queensland Police Service said it only had limited details about what had occurred.

He said emergency services had been called to reports that a person had fallen from the lookout at the top of Castle Hill at 2.54pm.

The spokesperson said the Polair Townsville helicopter had been tasked with helping locate the person.

The Queensland Government Air (QGAir) was also deployed.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service confirmed that had been called by QAS to assist in locating the victim.

QFES said the victim, a female, had been located about 4pm.

A spokeswoman confirmed the adult woman had been found deceased.

Police have closed Castle Hill Road and have urged road users to avoid the area.
