Roberson, USA Basketball Win Gold at FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup – Duke University

DURHAM – Duke women’s basketball incoming freshman Arianna Roberson and the USA Basketball Women’s U18 National Team capped an exceptional week of play at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup with an 80-69 victory over Canada in the gold medal game Sunday evening at Coliseo Bicentenario in Bucaramanga, Colombia.

With the win, the United States improved to 71-2 all-time in FIBA U18 competition and picked up its 11th consecutive gold medal dating back to 2000, and 12th title overall. The U.S. finished the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup with an unblemished 6-0 record and won each of its games by an average of 67.8 points. The 628 total points scored by the squad were the most all-time by a USA team at the tournament, which began in 1988.

Roberson provided a strong presence for the United States off the bench, averaging 8.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.0 blocks in 12.3 minutes per game. She pulled down seven-plus caroms in three games and reached double figures four times, headlined by a 14 point, seven rebound performance against Mexico during group play.

Canada and Argentina joined the United States on the podium with silver and bronze medal finishes, respectively. The three programs, along with fourth place Brazil, each secured their spots at the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, which will be played in the Czech Republic next summer.

  • June 22 | vs. Argentina (W, 109-32) – 11 points, eight rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal (SF)
