As Bayern Munich continue to struggle to make ground with FC Fulham in the very, very public transfer negotiations for Joao Palhinha, it only makes logical sense to keep an eye on potential alternatives. According to Florian Plettenberg, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, one of those alternatives “being considered by Bayern” is Everton FC’s Amadou Onana. Onana, currently at the European Championship with Belgium, has three years of experience in Hoffenheim’s academy and a year at Hamburg and subsequently knows fluent German. However, he is now at Everton and, continuing the trend of expensive Premier League players, it seems that he is only available for a premium.
Sky Sport’s English division reports that, while Onana is “expected to leave Everton this summer”, he is valued at €59 million. Essentially, in order to prise the former Lille player away from the Toffees, Bayern would have to pay the sixth highest transfer fee in its history. Then again, since reports suggest Bayern are willing to do the same with Palhinha, perhaps Bayern would rather reach that milestone by signing a player six years younger than Palhinha.
