College football player dead at 20 after horror car crash

Teigan Martin, a former college football star from the University of South Florida, has died in a horrific car crash.

According to law enforcement, via TMZ, the 20-year-old was involved in an incident around 5am on Monday. It’s claimed police found a BMW that had skidded into a ditch.

‘We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Teigan Martin,’ USF Football said in a statement. ‘We extend our thoughts and prayers to Teigan’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.’ 

Martin spent the 2022 season with Liberty before transferring to South Florida for the 2023 season. 

Martin was no longer participating in football for the Bulls, but was attending classes at the university, per the Tampa Bay Times.

Martin stood 6-foot-6 and was a multi-sport athlete at Mayer Lutheran High School in Mayer, Minnesota.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Martin was rated as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2022. The tight end was also rated as the No 16 prospect in Minnesota during that year. 

Per 247, Martin had secured college offers from Iowa State, North Dakota State, and South Dakota State before signing to play at Liberty.

South Florida competes in the American Athletic Conference and is hoping to find its way to the upper echelon of college football with an expanded 12-team playoff. 

The Bulls toughest test of their 2024 schedule comes on September 7, when they go on the road to face Alabama. 

South Florida went 7-6 last season including a 45-0 win over Syracuse in the Boca Raton Bowl.
