Power couplings have been dominating the red carpets and front rows of late – but not of the kind we’re used to. Rather than the hottest new couple making a public declaration of their love, instead, we’ve seen A-list stars inviting their mini-me daughters along with them in what might be the best “bring your child to work day” ever.
Yesterday saw the actresses Naomi Watts, Nicole Kidman and Maya Rudolph attending Couture Fashion Week in Paris with their daughters. Watts and her 15-year-old daughter Kai arrived at the Balenciaga show in monochrome looks, with the Feud: Capote vs The Swans star in a white off-the-shoulder jacket and pencil skirt (complete with matching gloves) and her daughter in a navy lace blouse and skirt. Both wore movie star-esque sunglasses to finish their looks.
Competing for best doppelganger was Kidman, whose 15-year-old daughter Sunday looked the spitting image of her mother, with both wearing black bodycon looks (though Sunday’s was velvet and mini-length). Rounding out the A-list mum-and-daughter attendees was Maya Rudolph, but she opted to wear a contrasting look to 18-year-old Pearl; the actress wore a printed blue silk dress, while her daughter was swan-like in a high-neck, floor-length black gown.
It comes just a week after Angelina Jolie and her 15-year-old daughter, Vivienne, attended the Tony Awards together in New York. The duo were there to celebrate their Broadway show, The Outsiders, which was up for several awards and saw Jolie winning her first Tony for Best Producer. For their red-carpet appearance, the pair both wore aquamarine looks, with Jolie in a Grecian gown by Atelier Versace and Vivienne in a tux.
Meanwhile, last month, Sienna Miller walked the Cannes Film Festival red carpet alongside her 11-year-old daughter Marlowe, marking one of only a handful of times she’s accompanied her mother on a public outing. While Miller wore Chloé, her daughter looked adorably age-appropriate in a sweet shift dress from the childrenswear brand, Jessie and James.
Watch this space for more mini-me outings.
