Major change for customers of big four bank

Must read

Gone are the days of having to reach for your physical card to pay for something online for NAB customers, as the big bank shakes up its app features.

NAB customers can now view their full physical card details digitally in the bank’s app, meaning your card number, expiry date and CVV for any consumer debit and credit cards are at your fingertips even if your card is not within reach.

The new digital features aimed to take the hassle out of making an online purchase, as customers will no longer need to manually type out their card details.

Instead, you can simply copy and paste them across, reducing any errors made that could have been made during manual entry.

This feature works for online shopping, any in-app payments, paying bills, setting up recurring payments and setting up your digital wallet.

The digital card details will also benefit customers waiting for a new card to arrive.

Now, once you have been approved for a new card, the details will automatically drop into your app within hours so you can start using it sooner.

“Once a customer has opened an account, and the digital card arrives in their app, they can go out and use it straight away. It’s another secure and convenient way for them to make payments their way,” NAB personal everyday banking experience manager Saurabh Chawla said.

The digital card feature highly sought after by customers, he added.

“We’ve all been moments away from paying for something online — a new fridge, new shoes, tonight’s dinner, or even a GP appointment — only to realise your card’s in another room or even just out of reach,” Chawla said.

“Suddenly, a few metres is the difference between you and the ‘pay now’ button.

“Now, with just a tap, customers can access those details securely inside the NAB app.”

While customers may celebrate the new feature, NAB reminded shoppers to always be cautious when making an online purchase.

It recommends shoppers use secure payment options that come with protections, such as PayPal; research the seller and look for reviews; and if possible, meet in person to exchange the item.
