Tamworth racing tips

Race 2. (12:35) Shay Brennan Constructions BM66 (1600m)

#2 – Are You Joking @ $2.60

Are You Joking didn’t fire at Scone last time out, but he should find this race much easier.

The three-year-old gelding by Shalaa owns a win and a placing from two starts at Tamworth, and he won his only start at the distance.

His odds are drifting, but he’s worth backing.

Race 4. (13:45) Tamworth City Toyota Maiden (1400m)

#6 – Reflecting Fame @ $6.00

Reflecting Fame didn’t fire on debut at Benalla, but coming to New South Wales could help his cause.

The three-year-old son of So You Think has finished last in two subsequent trials, but the breeding is too good to ignore.

We expect improvement this time around.

Race 6. (14:55) Happy Birthday Paul Chalmers BM82 (1200m)

#3 – Broken Hill @ $5.50

Broken Hill owns four wins from 12 starts, so the five-year-old gelding knows how to win.

The son of Lonhro is unbeaten in two starts at Tamworth, so the course specialist should be tough to beat on Friday.

Getting an inside draw and 3kg off his back helps.

Race 8. (16:15) Concrete Industry Supplies BM58 (1000m)

#2 – Outta De Lady @ $3.80

The four-year-old gelding by Outreach ended last preparation with a win, so that form checks out.

He likes to ride the pace, which always helps at the course and distance, so he could lead them throughout on Friday.

Barrier four is ideal, and the odds are appealing.

Ballarat racing tips

Race 1. (12:10) Global Turf Maiden (1100m)

#6 – Menzah One @ $2.35

Menzah One ran second on debut at Swan Hill when running a half-length behind the winner.

The two-year-old gelding by Calyx should be better for the run, and rising in distance only helps his chances.

We expect his current odds to firm on race day.

Race 3. (13:20) The Haymarket Maiden (1400m)

#1 – Boys Night Out @ $3.90

Getting ready to win is Boys Night Out, who owns four placings from six starts.

The three-year-old son of No Nay Never handled the heavy conditions at Ballarat last start, which is a good sign.

Barrier two helps, so punters should be confident of a top effort.

Race 5. (14:30) Porter Plant BM64 (1400m)

#1 – Imapagethree Girl @ $3.80

The Henry Dwyer-trained mare comes off a win at Swan Hill by 1.8 lengths, which is a tidy form guide.

The four-year-old mare by Press Statement owns three wins from seven starts, and there’s plenty to like about that form.

Getting an inside draw makes her tough to beat.

Race 7. (15:45) Nobody Does It Easier C1 (1200m)

#1 – Home Sweet Home @ $9.00

Home Sweet Home was too good for them last time out and punters get much better odds here.

The Lindsay Smith-trained gelding faces a rise in class, but he paid $2.30 when winning, so getting $9.00 is too good to pass up.

He’s another runner with an inside draw, so include at the value price.
