Caulfield is hosting a large 10-race program on Saturday with rain predicted on the day. Despite that, the track is still expected to be rated Good4 but punters will have to be wary of a downgrade. It’s an early start for punters with the first race getting underway at 11:20am (AEST).

Caulfield Racing Tips: Saturday, June 29th 2024
Race 2: Sportsbet Bet With Mates Handicap – 11:50am (AEST)
(8) Kin resumes here and despite the Cummings trained mare burning me a few times last prep, I think she can win first up with Lane on board. She likes Caulfield and usually goes alright fresh and from barrier 9 she should get her preferred midfield sit with room to move on the outside. She will run on well fresh I reckon and it doesn’t matter if the track goes from Good to Soft.
(5) Miss Icelandic has a new stable (Bedggood) and is also resuming like Kin. The Good track looks like the key here and the stable will be hoping the rain stays away. Jumped out well enough last week in readiness for this.
(6) Waverider Buoy does get back on her races so barrier 1 may be an issue. She loves this distance though and she did run on well at Randwick last start.
Race 4: Whisky, Wine and Fire Handicap – 1pm (AEST)
(5) Desperado gets a good draw here in 2 and John Allen should be able to position the gelding nicely in about the midfield position. The 2000m looks ideal as he has already won three races over that journey and the Good track will help as well. He found the 2400m too far at Randwick last start but before that he was running on nicely over similar distances to this. He has had a break since the Randwick effort so should be ready to fire after the short let up.
(6) Vegas Knight is very fit now but has drawn barrier 11 which is a slight concern. He ran well last start from the inside draw (2nd) but got caught wide from a similar draw to this (13) the start prior. Needs luck.
(7) Jabbawockeez will want a track downgrade. He gets the inside draw here and if you forget his last start, he has been running well prior. Stackhouse is back on and he has won on him previously.
Race 9: Marshall White Quality – 4:05pm (AEST)
(13) Wyclif is my best roughie of the day and gets his last chance for me. He was unlucky at Hillside a fortnight ago and the trainer (Maher) has stepped him up another 200m in distance which will suit. He is fitter now being third up and he has been in the money on three occasions when third up. He will get back from the wide draw (13) but with a bit of pace, he will run on well. At this track on June 1 he was very good when losing by 1.6L but making late ground.
(3) Milford had no luck at Flemington last time when trapped for room and he gets a gun draw in 2. He does enjoy racing at Caulfield. He is down in class from what he was racing against last Spring and he drops 1.5kg from his latest effort of 4th (running on).
(1) Smokin’ Romans hasn’t won in a while but looks ready now. He has won twice over this distance and he will settle handy in the run. Despite being poor here on May 4, he jumps 400m from that effort and he has more fitness on his side.
