Jannik Sinner dines with Joe Alwyn as he aces London social scene

Must read

Wimbledon favourite Jannik Sinner has warmed up for the tournament by enjoying a taste of London high society with Taylor Swift‘s ex Joe Alwyn and actress Poppy Delevingne.

The world number one, who is just 22, attended a private dinner hosted by Gucci at Mayfair’s Mount St. Restaurant in his honour ahead of Wimbledon’s July 1 start.

Sinner, from Italy, is a global ambassador for the fashion brand and made headlines at last summer’s tournament when his Gucci kit bag became the first luxury bag to be brought out at the championships, in a departure from the historic all-white kit rule.

As well as Alwyn, 33, and Delevingne, 38, the Australian Open champion was welcomed to the British capital on Wednesday by Hollywood star Salma Hayek and Barbie actor Ryan Gosling.

Alwyn is said to have inspired several songs on US megastar Taylor Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Sinner arrived in London after a successful warm up at Germany’s Halle Open last week.

His skill on the court combined with his looks have also earned him a partnership with iconic Italian car marque Ferrari.

On top of the lucrative brand deals, the tennis star earned a whopping  £1.65million by winning his first slam in January’s Australian Open.

He defeated the formidable Novak Djokovic on the way to edging out Daniil Medvedev in the Melbourne showpiece final.

Since that triumph, he reached the semi finals in this month’s French Open, only losing to eventual winner Carlos Alcaraz in five sets.

His star has shone so brightly in recent years that he has his own fanbase, known as the the ‘Carota Boys’ or ‘Carrot Boys’ after his red hair.

He will begin his campaign to be crowned Wimbledon champion against the unseeded German, and namesake, Yannick Hanfmann.

Mayfair’s Mount St. Restaurant is a luxurious venue where tables are set against artworks by Henry Matisse and Lucien Freud.

Dinner and drinks at Mount St. sets you back roughly £150 per person.

While Sinner will be on a regimented diet ahead of his All England Club appearance next month, the swanky dinner was just the start of Joe Alwyn’s night.

The actor, donning a Gucci co-ord teamed with a white ribbed polo shirt, was spotted leaving the Chiltern Firehouse on Wednesday night.

His ex-girlfriend, Taylor, partied at the five-star hotel in Marylebone with new partner Travis Kelce a mere 48 hours earlier.

Alwyn only made a brief 20-minute appearance at the celebrity hotspot before making a swift departure for reasons unknown.

The outing comes after Joe broke his silence about his split from Taylor Swift and their ‘long, loving, fully committed relationship’ in a recent interview with The Sunday Times Style.

When asked if he’d listened to her latest album The Tortured Poets Department, Joe said he ‘hopes’ people can ‘understand the difficulties’ that come with a break-up.

He said: ‘In thinking on what I was going to say, I would think and hope that anyone and everyone can empathize. … This isn’t a direct answer to your question, but just thinking about what I want to talk about.

‘I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,’ he continued.
