A Qantas flight has been forced to make a priority landing at Brisbane Airport following signs of an issue with the aircraft’s brakes.
The spirit of Australia, Qantas, is “not what it used to be”, says Sky News host Rita Panahi.
Her remarks come after the national carrier dropped out of the list of the world’s top 20 airlines.
“They were normally in the top 10 airlines, but now they’re not even in the top 20,” she said.
Flight QF1908 from Canberra to Brisbane was delayed on Friday night after initially being scheduled to depart at 5.25pm.
According to the Courier Mail, a warning light came on to signal a potential issue with the aircraft’s brakes.

A passenger said the pilot reported a technical issue over the PA, telling those on board the plane it would be landing earlier than usual.
The pilot requested a priority landing at Brisbane Airport and was able to use the longest runway to successfully land the plane just after 8pm.
A Qantas spokesperson said emergency services were on standby as per standard procedure.

One passenger reportedly said the pilot handled the situation “extremely well” and passengers “wouldn’t have known” the brakes may have been failing.
“It was a smooth landing,” they said.
