McDonald’s Australia has confirmed a temporary change to the window of time breakfast menu items are available in stores.
In the wake of a nationwide egg shortage due to a widening bird flu outbreak, McDonald’s tells 9Honey Kitchen it has made the decision to reduce its breakfast menu timing by 90 minutes to finish at 10.30am instead of midday.
“Like many retailers, we are carefully managing supply of eggs due to the current industry challenges,” McDonald’s Australia said in a statement to 9Honey Kitchen.

“We know our customers love a Macca’s breakfast, so to make sure we can continue to serve up fresh Aussie eggs on our menu, we’ll be temporarily offering breakfast until 10:30am only (usually available until Midday) across Australia.”
McDonald’s confirmed its much-loved menu items will remain available throughout this time, but there will just be 90 minutes less time in the day to nab them.
Hash browns, however, will still remain on the all-day menu.
“This means customers can continue to enjoy all their brekkie favourites such as the Bacon & Egg McMuffin, Sausage & Egg McMuffin, and Big Brekkie Burger – they’ll just need to get in a little earlier than usual,” the statement continued.

“Our fan favourite Hash Browns will remain available all day! We’re continuing to work closely with our network of Aussie farmers, producers, and suppliers, as the industry comes together to manage this challenge.
“Thank you to our customers for their patience and support. We’ll see you soon for breakfast at Macca’s!”
McDonald’s did not confirm how long this change will be in place.
In 2021, McDonald’s announced it was cancelling the all-day breakfast menu after it was introduced in 2015.
Until now, breakfast has been usually from to 4am until midday at restaurants and 4am to 10.30am via delivery.

It comes just days after Woolworths introduced a limit on eggs due to a delay in stock from an egg supplier due to the viral outbreak in New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and Victoria.
“As a precaution to help manage this stock delay, we’re introducing a two-pack purchase limit on eggs in NSW, ACT and Victoria,” a Woolworths spokesperson said.
