Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday July 3rd 2024

Must read

Victorian racing on Wednesday heads to Sandown, where eight races have been set down. The track as of Monday night is a Soft 6 but with fine forecast, the track, should get towards a Good 4/Soft 5.

Adam Page provides his best bets for Sandown below, and be sure to head over to our Racing Tips page, for more free tips from the key race meets this Wednesday!

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday July 3rd 2024

Race 6: Stow Storage Solutions Handicap 1300m – 3.20pm AEST

(7) He’s Beset should take beating for Nick Ryan. He has been quite strong in two runs back from a spell, winning impressively fresh at Caulfield before going to Sandown where he was near the speed and presented to win but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Bigolino. Third up and hard fit, winnable race, rates highly and keen.

(15) Written In Code has an engine under the hood and is a key threat. He resumed at Mornington where he just got too far back in the run but really liked the way he found the line late in the piece in a very strong return behind Shaime. He can settle closer in the run and has good upside to come.

(3) Baroque Road is an improver back in depth for Ciaron Maher. He ran over 1300m at Rosehill a few weeks back where he was on speed throughout and tried hard but on the wet track, he couldn’t pick up late in the piece behind Elson Boy. Hopefully firmer footing, he can run an improved race at odds.

(7) He’s Beset

$3.50 (4 Units)

Race 7: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap 1000m – 3.55pm AEST

(8) Mawallock has to be given another chance. Lindsey Smith trained mare that looked a good thing on paper when resuming at Caulfield but she was very one paced in the straight and didn’t let down like what most expected when fourth to Mrs Chrissie. She had jumped out like a jet prior so I think she deserves another look and if she brings her best, I think she wins.

(7) Beast Mode, you could say, is first up here. His actual first up run was pretty much a barrier trial, getting a suck run in behind the speed but when it came to getting clear, it didn’t eventuate and gee it was an ugly watch behind Go To Hollywood. Maps perfect again and with clear air, he’s dangerous.

(5) Etienne should appreciate added fitness for Busuttin/Young. He jumped out super prior to resuming over 1000m at Sandown a few weeks ago where he was ridden with intent to sit on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when fourth to Mrs Chrissie. Fitter, hopefully with a sit, he can bounce back.

(8) Mawallock

$2.75 (5 Units)

Race 8: Sportsbet Same Race Multi Handicap 1700m – 4.30pm AEST

(1) Lordship could be a donkey or he could be a nice horse on the up. German bred UK import that makes his Australian debut for Price/Kent. I haven’t minded his recent jumpout work, first over 1200m before going to 1400m, so the grounding is there. Gets in well after the claim after the claim and his form in the UK does read very well. Happy to speck each way.

(14) Awash is nearing a win for Ciaron Maher. He ran over 1500m here last time out where he tried his guts out near the speed and for a few strides, looked the winner, but couldn’t quite see it through and had to settle for a narrow second to Nation’s Call. 1700m is the query but with an ideal map, he’s in the mix.

(2) Falcon Of Malta has found winning form and he can go on with it. Michael Moroney trained gelding that was a strong on speed winner at Bendigo over the mile last time. Admittedly he was suited by the track pattern but he found under pressure to fend them off and get the win. Shinn on, good racing style, rates highly for me.

(1) Lordship E/W

$18/$4.80 (0.5U/1U)
