The 2024 Alpina B3 GT, B3 GT Touring and B4 GT have all been detailed for the Australian market ahead of their respective local introductions later this year.
The new GT suffix denotes the inclusion of more firepower, revised transmission tunes and some subtle chassis tweaks in line with the latest BMW 3 Series, plus the addition of an uprated rear swaybar for the sedan.
Outputs of the twin-turbo 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine are now rated at 389kW/790Nm thanks primarily to a new ECU mapping, liberating an extra 25kW over the outgoing B3 and B4 models.
The eight-speed automatic has been remapped accordingly, resulting in 0.2sec being taken off the hot sedan, wagon and Gran Coupe’s 0-100km/h times – now 3.4, 3.5 and 3.5 seconds respectively.
More than half a second has been shaved off the models’ claimed 0-200km/h times too, and the top speeds have been lifted to between 305-308km/h depending on the variant.
A beefier rear swaybar tightens up the handling in addition to the previously detailed 3 Series chassis upgrades, while a new shock absorber configuration maintains ride comfort via stiffened rear damper mounts.
The GTs can be spotted by their black exhaust outlets, front canards, gloss-black rear diffuser and unique 20-inch wheel design.
Other unique features include strut braces, GT-lettered scuff plates and head restraints, engine build number plaque, boot floor mat, aluminium paddle shifters and ‘Alpina Lavalina’ steering wheel.
The rest of the standard equipment list is shared with the previous B3s and B4s, with highlights including four-way adaptive dampers with the Alpina-specific Comfort+ mode, plus a 14.9-inch digital instrument cluster, head-up display, comfort access, 16-speaker harman/kardon sound system, heated steering wheel, Vernasca leather upholstery, DAB+ digital radio, power-adjustable sport seats with heating, self-dimming mirroring, BMW Connected Package Professional and a sport differential.
“Both the B3 GT and B4 GT, with now even more power and torque, ensure plenty of driving pleasure,” said Alpina Australia sales manager Phil Jeffery.
“Alpina B3 and B4 models are very successful in Australia and the GT models will build on this success.”
