Trainer Henry Dwyer has confirmed where Asfoora will race next.
The sprinter made history last start when winning the Group 1 King Charles Stakes at Royal Ascot in scintillating fashion.
It continued Australia’s brilliant record in the 1000m feature and Dwyer’s gamble to run her in such a high-pressure race paid off with his sprinter claiming her first Group 1.
Given the dominance with which she won, Dwyer is looking to capitalise on the momentum in the UK and will push on to the Group 2 King George Stakes on August 2 at Goodwood.
“We always planned to give her a couple of weeks off after Royal Ascot, win, lose or draw, and it was going to be a six-and-a-half-week turnaround from Ascot to Goodwood which was planned,” Dwyer explained on SENTrack.
“We still can afford to have two weeks in the paddock there and she’s just having a nice spell in the paddock where it’s about 24 degrees and sunny every day so it’s beautiful conditions and then she comes in at night and as of today she’ll have seven days on the treadmill where she’ll be trotting and cantering.
“She’ll then to go to Goodwood on August 2 for the Group 2 King George over 1000m.
“She hasn’t missed a beat and it’s been remarkable how plain sailing the trip has been from start to finish. It’s easy to say that after the fact that she’s won but she really has made it easy how well she’s travelled.
“We’ll head to Goodwood with a bit of confidence, and we always thought those next two runs would be her peak runs over there so hopefully that comes to fruition.”
Asfoora is the current $4.40 equal favourite in the King George Stakes.
