Must read

Manager Nathan Jones said: “Our focus is coming out of this transfer window categorically stronger than we were at the start of the window. We understand Alfie’s motivations for wanting to move on and we’ve been able to secure a really good deal for the club which allows us to reinvest in adding quality to our squad.”

May joined the Addicks from Cheltenham Town in July 2023 and made 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring 27 goals – 23 of which came in Sky Bet League One to earn him the division’s Golden Boot award. The 30-year-old was voted EFL Player of the Year at the London Football Awards, named in the EFL League One Team of the Season and also collected the club’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year trophies.

“Alfie did well for the club and myself last season,” added Jones. “He worked hard throughout and scored some crucial goals, so we wish him all the best for the future.”

Everyone at the club echoes Nathan Jones’ sentiments in wishing Alfie all the best for the future.
