A stolen life-sized gorilla statue has been found hidden in a backyard in Melbourne’s north.
The statue, affectionately known as “Garry,” was stolen from a retirement village on St Helena Rd in St Helena on June 6, upsetting the community deeply.

Police launched an investigation into the whereabouts of the stolen gorilla.
After a number of inquiries, they narrowed their search to Reservoir and sent the Air Wing up over a residence of interest.
Footage from the Air Wing shows the 1.5m statue hidden between two sheds and behind a ladder.
Police searched the property on Monday, with two officers carrying Garry out.
The gorilla will be reunited with the members of the retirement village on Wednesday.
Investigations into the theft remain ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact police.
