After more than 23 years at the ABC, Martin Buzacott has decided “it’s time to explore new adventures.” Russell Torrance will continue to present Mornings.
Martin describes the past decade on Mornings as “a privilege and a pleasure” spending each day with listeners exploring the stories, lives and music of the big names of the classical music world.
Martin’s highlights include the shared dance classes that were particularly meaningful during the pandemic, and the friendships built and stories listeners shared with the Mornings family over the years.
Martin gives thanks to his long term mate and colleague Russell Torrance for keeping the music playing on Mornings.
Martin’s long and deep connection with the ABC includes authoring The Rite of Spring: 75 Years of ABC Music-Making, the production of multiple documentaries profiling the unique stories of the Australian classical scene, and a period as Manager of the ABC Classics label producing some of the finest Australian album releases.
It’s no secret that Martin is a keen cyclist who is no stranger to the steep heights of the Pyrenees, and while Martin says it’s time to “jump on my bike” he looks forward to continuing the connection he’s built with listeners in the years ahead. It’s goodbye for now.
All at ABC Classic wish Martin the best on his next adventure.
