Aaron Rodgers is away on an ayahuasca retreat, NFL insider hints – after New York Jets QB sparked controversy by missing the start of practice

Aaron Rodgers’ unexcused absence that caused him to miss all of the New York Jets mandatory minicamp this week was because of an ayahuasca retreat, one NFL insider claims.

Albert Breer gave a lengthy response to Rodgers’ whereabouts, that was not in the New York area instead of being at the Jets’ facility, a decision that will cost him more than $100,000 in fines.

‘The best I can answer this right now that I feel solid about is that he is somewhere that they could not excuse and maintain credibility with the rest of the locker room, but would be expected, would not be an out-of-left-field thing for him,’ Breer said on ‘The Rich Eisen Show’.

‘So you guys can open your mind, so to speak, as he’s been known to open his mind sometimes, into all the possibilities,’ Breer continued.

Rodgers has marched to the beat of his own drum for the latter half of his career, and his aura has dominated the New York Jets since his arrival last year.

It was Rodgers who announced his intentions to join the New York Jets on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ from the Green Bay Packers before the teams had officially agreed to the terms of the deal.

The four-time NFL MVP has shared his views on bunked conspiracy theories as well, such as the efficiency of the coronavirus vaccine on McAfee’s show.

Four offensive snaps into his first season with the Jets, he tore his Achilles and missed the rest of the season.

In Rodgers’ absence after a Week 1 victory over the Buffalo Bills, his backup Zach Wilson plummeted the team’s chances at playoff success.

Rodgers has been involved in the team’s offseason practices over the last several weeks and was at the Jets practice facility on Monday for a physical.

Rodgers first missed practice during the mandatory minicamp will cost the 40-year-old Rodgers $16,953, with a second absence nearly doubling to $33,908, and a final missed day raising to a fine of $50,855.
