Abbie Chatfield has described Australia’s dating culture as ‘sh**ty’ and said she is relieved she’s now in a ‘secure’ relationship.
Talking on her podcast It’s A Lot, Abbie, who is enjoying a romance with Peking Duk frontman Adam Hyde, believes that these days it is harder for women to find a partner who wants to be in a committed relationship.
‘We are just in this weird culture of dating. Particularly Australia. I think Australia is known (around the world) for really sh**ty dating culture,’ she said.
‘Very surface level. Very shallow. Very game playing. When anyone dares to vocalise their feelings they’re almost punished for it.’
The FBoy Island host, 28, went on to say women are often ‘accused of smothering someone or gaslit into thinking they’re crazy’ when they ask for clarity about their relationship status.
‘They’re told they’re reading into things too much. So, therefore, no one ever asks for clarification,’ she added.
Executive producer Lem Zakharia, who hails from Jordan, chimed and said she too found it difficult to date Aussie men.
‘I agree fully. I really found it hard when I first came here,’ she said.
‘I don’t know if it’s just because I was going out with girls, but it was really just surface level dates.’
It comes after Abbie opted to confirm the identity of her new boyfriend with a not so cryptic post to Instagram during her getaway to Mexico.
In the clip, she gyrated for the camera in a series of bizarre poses, almost bouncing out of her bikini as she jumped around and shaked her behind.
At one point, she seductively licked a beer bottle.
Abbie’s fans were quick to notice her very telling song choice for the video – Keli Holiday’s doyoulikeitornot?

Keli Holiday is the stage name of Peking Duk frontman Adam Hyde, who has long been suspected to be Abbie’s new man.
‘Heard this random song from this random new EP and felt inspired to create a little something in Mexico. Does anyone know the artist? Someone help!’ Abbie teased in her caption alongside the video.
‘This is the best hard launch I’ve even seen… and ever will see,’ wrote one person in the comments.
‘Lol this def a hard launch. Nicely done,’ said another, while one more chimed in: ‘This is so ‘omg it’s our song’ except it actually is his song.’
