ABC star Sarah Ferguson has taken aim at President Joe Biden after his disastrous debate with Donald Trump.
The US President repeatedly suffered senior moments in Friday’s debate, struggling to find his words as he talked on various policy issues.
However, Biden’s disposition transformed the following day at a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, when he attacked Trump more clearly in front of cheering fans.
While some were glad to see Biden recover, many were left questioning how the president had made such a dramatic turnaround in such a short time.
Sarah Ferguson, the presenter of ABC’s flagship current affairs show 7.30, claimed the change was due to Biden using a ‘teleprompter’ instead of being placed on the spot.
However, the criticism backfired on Ferguson, as many called her comment hypocritical.
‘He’s got a lot to say now, after a, granted awful first debate, and you know what, Sarah, I reckon he’s knocking it out of the park,’ they commented.
‘If he wants notes, prompts via a teleprompter, so bloody what.’
A second added: ‘Jeez, I would expect better from someone who uses one themselves. It’s actually sort of nasty.’
‘That’s a mean-spirited comment. What’s your point,’ a third asked.
‘As if you don’t use one every night? Puhlease,’ a fourth said.
Biden used the rally in North Carolina to assuage widespread concerns about his performance as some of his closest allies including Obama publicly stood behind him despite admitting their concerns about the disastrous debate.
‘I know I’m not a young man. To state the obvious,’ Biden said alongside First Lady Jill while she wore a Christian Siriano dress covered in the word ‘vote.’
‘Folks, I don’t walk as easily as I used to. I don’t speak as smoothly as I used to. I don’t debate as well as I used to.’
‘But I know what I know – I know how to tell the truth. I know right from wrong. And I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done,’ the president argued.
‘I give you my word as a Biden. I would not be running again if I didn’t believe with all my heart and soul that I could do this job.’
In a shocking move,Trump had something nice to say about Biden’s comeback speech.
‘His speech on Friday was better… but AMERICA must ask itself, with all of the many dangers around, do we really want a President who CHOKES? I don’t think so!’ Trump said.
