AI AND WINDOWS 11 DRIVE SUSTAINED RECOVERY IN GLOBAL PC MARKET
The global personal computer (PC) market is experiencing a sustained recovery, driven by the transition to Windows 11 and the increasing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, according to market research firm Canalys.
After a two-year downturn caused by economic pressures and budget constraints, the PC market is rebounding. This revival coincides with exciting advancements in AI-powered PCs, as vendors and chipset manufacturers bring their ambitious roadmaps to fruition.
An AI PC is designed to efficiently handle AI tasks and host AI assistants powered by large language models. The inability of many older computers to upgrade to Windows 11 is also motivating consumers to replace their devices with newer, more powerful models.
Microsoft’s announcement in May about some Copilot+ PCs, featuring chips from Qualcomm and manufactured by Dell DELL.N, HP HPQ.N, Asus 2357.TW, and others, has further fueled the market’s momentum.
Lenovo, the global PC market leader, maintained its market share in the second quarter, while Asus saw the most significant growth, expanding its share from 6.4% in the second quarter of 2023 to 7.2% in the April-June period this year.
