Airline’s mega school holiday sale with flights for just $49

Must read

A major Aussie airline is offering flights for just $49 as part of a mega two-day sale launched just in time for school holidays.

Virgin Australia has dropped one of its “best-value deals of the year”, with more than 300,000 fares to travel hotspots on sale.

For two days only, travellers wanting to get away for the July school break can snap up discounted flights to Perth, Gold Coast and even the picture-perfect Byron Bay.

The sale — which ends Saturday at midnight (AEST) — includes travel between July 1 and August 31.

Virgin Australia is the latest carrier to start ferrying tourists from capital cities to Uluru.

The flights will inject more than 62,000 seats per year to the region and run to and from Brisbane three times and Melbourne four times per week from Thursday, June 6.

Virgin’s expansion comes at a time of change within the industry. In May, Bonza, a low-cost domestic airline primarily servicing regional locations, entered administration.

After less than a year in operation, the carrier was saddled with debts of more than $100 million.
