ALDI’s famous $29 Oodie dupe returns

Must read

Aldi Australia has announced the return of its Oodie dupe – and the popular buy is still the same price it was two years ago.

The $29 ‘Snuggle Hoodie’ will be available in store from July 20 but stock is expected to disappear from the shelves quickly.

Aldi first launched its own hooded blanket in 2022, with its design closely matching that of the original Oodie founded by Davie Fogarty in 2018.

While Mr Fogarty felt customers would prefer his original product, the price differential of $84 to $29 at Aldi had seen many customers opt for the supermarket version.

Aldi says their new line of the loungewear has a ‘packable’ design that can be easily rolled up to fit into a travel friendly carry pouch.

They are made ‘ultra soft’ polyester fleece and have a front pocket akin to a kangaroo pouch.

Aldi’s dupe designs include pastel blue with donuts and a black version with hamburgers design.

The kids version sells for $19.99 and comes in dinosaur, watermelon and unicorn prints.

Kids’ sizes also come with glow-in-the-dark versions.

With the cost-of-living crisis, the hoodies offer an affordable way of staying warm while saving on heating costs.

Mr Fogarty, creator of the original Oodie, finds it ‘flattering’ that stores such as Aldi have chosen to dupe his design after it became an international sensation during the lockdowns of 2020.

Oodie has recently launched a series of cheeky advertisements taking aim at brands who have put out cheaper dupes.

The hero slogan ‘you wouldn’t hug sandpaper’ appears on the ads with a promise that the OG wearable blankets stay softer for longer.
