Channel Nine presenter Danika Mason has been stitched up on-air after co-host Andrew Johns revealed pictures that uncovered her embarrassing secret.
A deal has been finalised between the Australian government and Papua New Guinea to introduce the country’s rugby league team into the NRL, according to reports from 2GB.
PNG would become the NRL’s 18th team.
September 16 is being flagged as a possible announcement date – the 49th anniversary of Papua New Guinea’s independence.
The rugby league presenters were engaged in a post-match discussion from Parramatta’s Commbank Stadium after the Eels defeated the Cronulla Sharks, before Johns made a cheeky segue to poke fun at his colleague.
The pair were speaking about injury concerns ahead of next week’s State of Origin Game One when Johns made reference to another “major injury”.

“It’s not the only injury news. There’s another major injury today,” Johns said as Mason cracked an embarrassed smile when she realised he was referring to a mishap she suffered earlier on Thursday.
“We have Lloyd Christmas from Dumb and Dumber. Can we look at someone’s tooth that got chipped today?”
Mason said “that is my tooth” before revealing that she sustained the chipped tooth while opening a bag of chips.
“Hang on, hang on, hang on. Opening a bag of chips. What happened?” Johns asked.
Mason explained: “I was using my hands and the it wasn’t opening, so then I used my mouth and my tooth flung off in the car and so I had to go to the emergency dentist today.”
“Luckily I had a good dentist that was able to get me in at 11am,” she said, before adding she had to return for another appointment with a dentist.

Johns replied, telling viewers not to make the same mistake as Mason: “Kids at home don’t listen to aunty Danika. Use your hands. Don’t be impatient”.
He also recommended Mason visit a dentist at Nine, adding: “We’ve all got these fake teeth. You should have seen my bake bean teeth before I got this done”.
Fellow host James Bracey chimed in from back in the studio, calling his colleague “Lloyd Christmas’s long lost sister”.
“That’s good stuff,” he said. “Well done with that. Glad you’re alright. Good luck with whatever they have to do with it next.”
Mason’s tooth gaffe was the only injury news on Thursday with Eels stars Clint Gutherson and Mitchell Moses both returning from injury layoffs to star in their side’s 34-22 victory and come out unscathed.
