Are The Amazon Prime Day Sales Worth The Hype? | ELLE

Must read

You’ve probably heard a lot about Amazon Prime Day – just one of the year’s major shopping sales days.

Along with Clickfrenzy, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Afterpay Day, Amazon Prime Day is a shopping event full of bargains to be found. Unlike the others, however, Amazon Prime Day remains slightly mysterious, with the e-comm giant keeping the date and deals tightly under wraps. You can also only partake in the day if you’re an Amazon Prime member. So, the question remains, is that going to be worth your while?

Here’s what you need to know.

What Is Amazon Prime Day Australia?

Known to some as ‘Prime Day’, Amazon Prime Day is an online sales event where members score low prices across a range of Amazon products, including fashion, beauty, electronics, clothes, books and more. The 2024 Prime Day is the biggest ever, with the sales event running for a full five days.

What Dates Are Amazon Prime Day in Australia, 2024?

This year, Amazon Prime Day runs from July 16 to July 21.  You may want to rise early, as the sales start at one minute past midnight (12:01 AM) AEST.

Is Amazon Prime Day Australia Any Good?

The answer to that really depends on who you ask. Here are some things you might want to consider…

Only Amazon Prime Members Can Shop The Sale

To take advantage of the sales you must be a member. *Sigh* The good news is – if you have an Amazon Prime streaming account, you are indeed an Amazon Prime member and therefore able to nab the sales discounts.

Memberships cost $9.99 a month of $79 a year, but there is a way to get one for free…

How To Get An Amazon Prime Membership For Free

If you’re not already a member, the sales period could be the perfect time to sign up. Every new member to sign up gets a 30-day free trial, which you can cancel at any time. So, in theory, you could sign up now, shop the sale, then cancel, if you don’t think you’ll continue using the services. Learn more here.

What Is On Sale? (And What Are The Discounts?

Amazon is one of the world’s biggest online retailers, and sells products from a range of reputable brands, including brands that don’t often have sales, like Apple.

However, the catch is whether you buy something before July (in the many non-member’s only EOFY sales) or wait until Prime Day.

Amazon keeps the details of what’s on sale fairly close to their chest, with bargain hunters having to search on the day of the event to see if the item they’ve added to their cart in anticipation will actually receive a discount.  However, we can reveal that brands  like Apple, Bose, Bonds, de’Longhi, Dyson, Instant Pot, Miele, The North Face, Panasonic, Philips, Samsonite, Samsung, Sony and Tommy Hilfiger will go on sale.
