RICHMOND, Va. – The Atlantic 10 announced pairings for the 2024-25 men’s basketball season Wednesday. Richmond will play an 18-game conference schedule that includes home-and-home series against the same four opponents as last season: Davidson, George Mason, George Washington, and VCU.
The Spiders will also host Duquesne, Fordham, Loyola Chicago, Rhode Island, and Saint Louis at the Robins Center, where they went 15-1 last season. In addition to their trips to Davidson, George Mason, George Washington, and VCU, the Spiders will also visit Dayton, La Salle, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph’s, and St. Bonaventure.
The 2024-25 season will be Richmond’s 24th as a member of the Atlantic 10. UR won a school-record 15 conference games last season to win the A-10 regular season title, its first since joining the conference. Season ticket renewals for the 2024-25 season will begin on July 8th. A ticket office representative will contact individuals who have already submitted a deposit for season tickets. All questions regarding season tickets can be answered by calling 1-877-SPIDER-1.
2024-25 will be the 12th time in the last 13 seasons Richmond plays a home-and-home series vs VCU, a stretch broken only by the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. The series, known as the Richmond Area Honda Dealers Capital City Classic, is UR’s most frequently played home-and-home series since the Rams joined the Atlantic 10 in 2012. The teams split a pair of games last season, with Richmond winning at home and falling on the road.
The Spiders have faced George Mason at least twice in nine of the previous 10 seasons. In 2023-24, Richmond defeated the Patriots in the Robins Center before falling on the road to George Mason in the final game of the regular season.
Richmond swept a pair of meetings vs George Washington last season and has won eight of the last nine games in the series. 2024-25 will be the third straight season the Spiders have played a home-and-home series with the Revolutionaries.
The Spiders will also face Davidson twice during the regular season, hosting the Wildcats at the Robins Center and visiting Belk Arena, where they’ve won four straight, including an overtime victory last season. Richmond also beat Davdison in the Robins Center last year.
The 2024-25 Spiders feature nine new players, the most newcomers in any of Chris Mooney‘s 20 seasons at Richmond. Among the six incoming transfers are former America East Rookie of the Year Jonathan Beagle from Albany, two-time All-MAC selection B. Artis White from Western Michigan, and two-time national champion Apostolos Roumoglou from Connecticut. The returning Spiders are led by senior guard DeLonnie Hunt, who averaged 9.3 points per game last season.
