SHENZHEN (China) – Australia, China, Korea, and Japan will represent Asia in the prestigious FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2025 in Czechia.

The four proud programs earned the right to carry the fight for the continent after advancing to the Semi-Finals of FIBA U18 Women’s Asia Cup 2024.

Australia and China were the first teams to advance after finishing as the top seed of their respective groups with identical 3-0 win-loss records.

Also the defending U18 Women’s Asia Cup champions, the Gems have never missed a FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup and will look to return to the Final, which, if they do, will be their third appearance in the title bout in the last four editions.

China will be making their second consecutive appearance in the global conclave after missing the 2021 meet for the first time ever.

Korea and Japan completed the cast to the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup after beating their respective foes in the Qualification to Semi-Finals on Friday, June 28.

Korea booked their ticket by way of an 86-66 win over New Zealand, marking their return to the Semi-Finals after missing the said phase in the 2022 edition in India.

Now they are also bound for their sixth appearance in the last seven editions of the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup. They missed the 2023 competition, which ended their streak of five consecutive trips that ran from 2013 to 2021.

Japan then followed suit after surviving Chinese Taipei, 76-70, in a rematch of the previous U18 Women’s Asia Cup Third-Place Game, which they won to bag the bronze.

Japan will be making their fifth straight FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup appearance and their 12th appearance overall. Their best finish was in 2017, when they made it all the way to the Semi-Finals and eventually finished at fourth place.
