Her three-month-old son was taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, where he died from his injuries on Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Burpengary Forensic Crash Unit Sergeant Greg Price said on Friday that the boy had been secured in a baby seat, but was thrown out on impact.

“We’re seeking what the actions of the driver were prior to the crash,” Price said.

He confirmed that the baby’s father had been with him at hospital.

“At this stage, speed is something we are looking at in relation to the extent of the damage, but I can’t tell you at this stage if anything else was involved,” Price said.

“No doubt this will impact the family and local community here.”

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information is asked to contact police.
