Beckhams recreate INFAMOUS purple wedding outfit photos

Must read

David and Victoria Beckham have once again lived up to their name as a superstar couple after they slipped back into the infamous purple wedding outfits to mark 25 years of marriage.

The couple shared a joint Instagram post on Wednesday showing them posing on thrones similar to the ones they sat on at their extravagant wedding reception on July 4, 1999.

“Look what we found…” the couple wrote, referring to the purple Antonio Berardi outfits they changed into at their Disney-themed party following the ceremony at Luttrellstown Castle outside Dublin.

At the time, the pair copped a flooding of backlash for the purple attire with fashionistas labelling the wardrobe stunt as tacky.

They were also criticised for posing like a king and queen on the thrones.

In a world without social media, like we know today, the power couple’s wedding day photos sent the public into obsessed chaos after the images were released via a profitable magazine publishing deal.

For the ceremony, Victoria stunned in a strapless, floor-length satin Vera Wang gown, which was said to have cost $150,000 at the time, before changing into the purple dress with a thigh-high split and heels.

Their baby son Brooklyn, now 25, was also wearing a purple suit to match with his parents.

Fans from all over the world weighed in on the ultimate throwback post.

“I remember all the issues of OK Magazine with the Beckhams during the summer of 1999. Such an amazing time,” one fan said.

Another said: “I bought the Hello magazine and still have it.”

“Hail to the Queen and King of the fabulous world,” a third said.

In the 2023 Netflix docuseries Beckham, which details his humble beginnings as a soccer player to global stardom, the couple poked fun at the unusual choice of outfits.

“I’m trying to think back to when I decided to wear a purple suit, and I don’t know when that happened,” David said.

“I think I just took Victoria’s lead on it, but what were we thinking?”

However, Victoria looked back on the outfits fondly, saying they were a form of self-expression.

“It was fun, we weren’t worried about what people were going to say,” she said.

“You just want to express yourself, that’s just who we were.”
