‘Been hacked’: Say g’day to the ‘face’ of WA

Must read

West Aussies were confused when the new ‘face’ of WA was revealed on Facebook on Tuesday.

The official Western Australia Facebook page was hacked, resulting in a change in the profile photo from a cute local quokka to a new but not-so-improved photo of a shirtless young boy.

The boy appears to be sitting at a desk with no top on, his hand covering his mouth, flaunting a chunky silver ring on his finger.

Along with the image was the caption, “This is my teacher

The boy lasted as the face of Western Australia for approximately 15 minutes before the social media team marketing guru swiftly reverted the image back to Rottnest Island’s famous furry friend.

The Facebook page has a total of 889 thousand followers. However, not all of these followers saw the hacker’s image during its short reign; the ones who did sure got a kick out of it.

Approximately 30 followers liked the new profile picture before it was removed, four commented on it, and two shared the latest photo.

One follower wrote, “Has this been hacked.”

Another follower added a series of laughing emojis: “😂😂😂.”

When the profile photo was restored to its original image, it had to be posted again, allowing followers to comment on the situation.

One follower wrote, “Where’s homey gone? I was looking for a teacher 😂😂😂.”

“Dang. That was quick,” wrote another.

Many expressed that they “liked the last profile picture better.”

It cannot be confirmed that the young boy in the image is the same person behind the profile picture switch-up.

The Western Australia tourism Facebook page has yet to comment on the situation, but judging from its near-instant resolution, there is not much left for it to say.
