SPEAKERS at the first joint BestWool/BestLamb and BetterBeef conferences in Ballarat next month will cover a range of practical and even futuristic topics for sheep and beef producers.
The event will start with the BestWool/BestLamb conference on Wednesday 19 June, followed by the conference dinner, and the BetterBeef conference on Thursday 20 June.
It is the first time since 2019, that the two conferences will be held together and in the new location of Ballarat.
Both conferences include speakers intending to inform, challenge, and excite participants with the most up to date sheep and beef industry research and information, as well as provide a great opportunity for networking.
Both conference programs will include keynote addresses and concurrent sessions, giving participants the ability to tailor their time to suit their needs and interests.
Sheep industry subjects to be covered include grazing management, market access, early lambing and feet health, as well Mark Ferguson from neXtgen Agri speaking on role of artificial intelligence in the flocks of the future.
The BetterBeef program includes Rabobank’s Angus-Gidley Baird with a domestic and global beef market update and Mark Ferguson again on ‘cattle, complexity and change.’
Included in the line-up of speakers are agribusiness professionals John Francis, Agrista and Cam Nicholson from Nicon Rural Services, who are presenting on both days.
John Francis’ session ‘Thriving under pressure – are you ready for the next challenge?’ will help producers make more informed decisions when faced with obstacles impacting their farm business.
‘Cam Nicolson’s presentation on ‘Grazing Management – balancing the compromise’ will cover making better decisions to find the right strategic balance between the plant and the animal in a grazing enterprise.
The guest speaker for the combined dinner for beef and sheep conferences will be quadriplegic Beau Vernon, who will share his story on how through challenges comes great growth.
Early bird registrations to the conferences on 19-20 June close this week. Ticket sales will be capped this year to accommodate the size of the new venue.
