Police and firefighters are working to free the body of a person killed in a two car crash on the Arnhem Highway, south-east of Darwin.
Emergency services were called to the two car crash on the Arnhem Highway, approximately 1.5 kilometres east of Lambells Lagoon Road intersection, about 6am on Saturday.
One of the drivers was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver was taken to hospital with non- life-threatening injuries.
“Major Crash detectives are on site and investigating the circumstances of this head-on crash between two utilities,” Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said.
“The Arnhem Highway remains fully closed as police and firefighters work to extract and recover the deceased.”
Motorists were advised to “defer any travel” on the Arnhem Highway and to avoid the area or expect lengthy delays.
