After a year off because of scheduling conflicts, Bramlage Coliseum will again host the Class 2A state basketball tournament following the 2024-25 high school season.
Bramlage had hosted the 2A state tournament every season except two (2019 and 2020) since 1990, but didn’t last year because the final week of the Big 12 basketball schedule interfered with the tournament.
The conflict occurred multiple times in the past, but it was just the second time since Bramlage’s opening that Kansas State wanted to keep that week open for a potential home game. In last season’s case, the Wildcats’ 65-58 home win over No. 6 Iowa State would’ve conflicted.
Last season, the tournament was held in Dodge City, which normally plays host to the Class 1A-DI tournament.
Joining Manhattan in hosting for next season is Wichita (6A), Emporia (5A), Salina (4A), Hutchinson (3A), Dodge City (1A-D1) and Colby (1A-DII).
The Moundridge boys and the Wichita Independent girls are the reigning 2A champions. The Valley Heights girls also finished fourth in last year’s tournament.
