Must read

The Alpine Formula 1 team has confirmed it will part ways with Esteban Ocon at the end of the 2024 season.

Ocon joined the Enstone-based squad in 2020 when it ran under the Renault guise.

The Frenchman became a race winner with the team during the 2021 campaign when he prevailed at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Speculation mounted over Ocon’s future within the squad over the last week he collided with team-mate Pierre Gasly at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Alpine has endured a difficult start to the current campaign, commencing the year towards the back of the field.

Ocon has scored a solitary point in the opening eight rounds, crossing the line in 10th in Miami.

A series of changes have ben made within the Alpine organisation over the last year, with Ocon becoming the latest figure to move on.

Alpine has stated that its driver line-up for next year’s campaign will be announced in due course.

“It’s been a significant period of my life to be racing at this team in Formula 1,” Ocon said.

“While I’ve been here for five years as a full-time racing driver, my professional career started at Enstone back when I was a teenager, so it will always be a special place for me.

“We have had some great moments together, some tough moments as well, and I am certainly grateful to everyone at the team for these memorable times.

“I will announce my plans very soon but, in the meantime, my full focus is on delivering on track for this team and having a successful remainder of the season.”
