The centre was stood down by the NRL in May under the no-fault stand-down policy after he was charged with domestic violence offences.

The charges relate to an alleged argument in a Werrington home in April and May pleaded not guilty to stalking and three counts of domestic violence.

His case has been adjourned until March 2024.

According to the The Daily Telegraph, May has been handed a confidential settlement after the club’s attempt to sack him in recent weeks.

Panthers bosses issued the centre with a second show-cause notice on June 13 and claimed the charges levelled against May brought the game into disrepute.

They reportedly intended to interview May and “conduct an investigation” regarding his case before the outside back’s lawyers intervened and asked for the meeting to be adjourned.

The Panthers denied that request, with May’s lawyers then taking the matter to the Federal Court, with the court ruling in May’s favour, blocking any attempt to sack him.

However, with the situation at a stalemate, the club and the player’s manager and legal team have since come to a resolution, leading to his departure from the reigning premiers.

May signed a $1.2 million, two-year extension to remain at the foot of the mountain until the end of the 2026 season in March 2024.
