Brisbane News Live: Missing children found; School attendance rates below pre-pandemic level; Fire rips through multiple homes

Must read

Detective Acting Superintendent Mark White has provided further details about the man in police custody after his three children were reported missing overnight, prompting an amber alert.

White said the children were legally in his care at the time, and officers had found the man after a disturbance at Slacks Creek.

“The responding police did a great job in making enquiries, the issue of contacting the biological mother, other family and friends, making other enquiries, and we got to the point where we felt it necessitated an amber alert,” he said.

He said the man was in custody on other charges.

“We’ll be conducting a further criminal investigation as to why those children were in the car overnight by themselves at Mt Warren Park,” he said.

White said it appeared the children were OK, but were now being medically assessed.

He urged anyone with information, or who saw the car, or the children, during the time they were missing to contact Crime Stoppers to help detectives in their investigation.

The man is scheduled to appear in court today.
