British GP weather update: Treacherous conditions to disrupt race?

Must read

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will start the British Grand Prix from the front row, giving Mercedes another boost amid its upturn in form of late.

With Lando Norris and Max Verstappen lining up in third and fourth respectively, the race is set up to be an exciting one.

However, there is an additional element to the unpredictable event ahead as there is a major chance of heavy showers disrupting the race in Silverstone.

The showers are forecast for the afternoon but could be separated by spells of sunshine which could help to dry out the track and give the strategists a headache.

However, the track drying out will not be helped by the temperature, which it set to be a maximum of 16 degrees on Sunday, which by F1 standards, is quite cold.

The wind during the race will blow in from the southwest, meaning the drivers can expect headwinds in the blisteringly fast combination of Maggotts-Becketts-Chapel.

In Stowe, the wind will be a cause for concern as there is a crosswind predicted in that area of the track.
