Buddy Franklin’s shock new career has been discovered almost one year after he announced his retirement from the AFL.
The former footy star enjoyed one of the best careers the game has ever seen before quitting the sport in July 2023 following a calf injury.
But leaked footage has shown the sports legend’s surprising new off-field venture.
In a video shared to Reddit, Buddy appeared in a kitchen kneading dough while taking part in a film shoot.
‘Does anyone know what this is? Looks like Buddy’s got a new side hustle… but it’s not on the field,’ the poster wrote.
Several users guessed Buddy was now a chef and perhaps the face of a new ‘cooking show’.
‘I’m not a scientist, but if I had to take a wild guess I’d say it looks like he’s taking part in some sort of televised cooking program,’ one user suggested in the thread, while another added, ‘Lol is he in a cooking show?’
‘Got to be an ad right?’ another asked.
Daily Mail Australia can reveal Buddy’s upcoming move is part of a collaboration with Hahn, with more to be announced by the beer company on Friday.
Buddy’s exit from the AFL was officially announced by the club in July last year after the forward told teammates of his decision.
He posted a brief message of gratitude on Instagram shortly after the news became public.
‘What a journey. Thanks to everyone who has been on this crazy ride with me,’ he wrote, accompanied by a love heart emoji.
Buddy, who won a premiership with the Hawks in 2008 and 2013, will go down as one of the greatest players in the history of Aussie Rules football.
He’s now ranked fourth among the all-time list of AFL and VFL goalkickers with 1066 majors from his 354 games.
His 1000th goal setting off wild scenes as fans flooded the SCG during the Swans’ clash with Geelong in March last year.
Among his many achievements, he was an eight-time All Australian, led the goalkicking for seven times for Sydney and six times for Hawthorn, and won the Coleman Medal as the league’s top goalkicker on four occasions.
Since retiring from footy, Buddy and his family have relocated to the Gold Coast.
He married his wife Jesinta in a private ceremony in November 2016 and they share two children together, Tullulah, four, and Rocky, three.
A lot of Buddy and Jesinta’s wealth comes from their brand power, with the pair picking up a slew of lucrative sponsorships over the years.
