Premiership Hawk Campbell Brown has labelled Sydney as ‘living certainties’ to win the 2024 AFL Grand Final.
While the Swans have only played 11 games so far in 2024, they’ve clearly emerged as the competition’s best side with a 10-1 win-loss record and the most points for (1132) and least points against (754) in the competition.
That dominance has delivered the Swans a ridiculous percentage of 150.1 at the midway point of the campaign and Brown can’t see them slowing down unless they get decimated by injury.
Brown’s huge call came on the SENTrack Ladbrokes Winter Breakfast Show and he thinks that the Swans are huge value with most bookmakers at odds of $3.50 to win the 2024 flag.
“I’ve been reluctant to talk about footy,” Brown told SENTrack’s Ladbrokes Winter Breakfast Show.
“But stuff it, I think that the Sydney Swans are a living certainty to win the premiership this year unless they get cruelled by injury.
“They are the best side in the competition by a margin and I know everyone’s going to say, ‘They’re only two games clear on top of the ladder’.”
Brown is so confident in the Swans because of the other teams behind them currently from places two to five in Essendon, Geelong, Port Adelaide and Carlton.
He doesn’t think that any of those teams are in the same bracket as the Swans and expects John Longmire’s side to at the very least win their way into a Grand Final.
“But you look at who’s underneath them – Essendon, they’re just okay, but a false second on the ladder,” Brown explained.
“The Cats are going terribly in third. You’ve got probably Port Adelaide and Carlton (next).
“Carlton are just not in the same bracket right now as the Sydney Swans.
“I think you can bet on them with a lot of confidence.
“At least now they’ll make a Grand Final.”
Carlton is rated as the second-best chance of winning the premiership with Ladbrokes at odds of $6.
Behind them are GWS ($7) and Collingwood ($8), while Melbourne and Geelong are both listed at $12.
