Canada’s oldest club appoints Mackenzie & Ebert to develop course master plan

Victoria Golf Club in Vancouver has appointed British golf architecture firm Mackenzie & Ebert to develop a master plan for renovating Canada’s oldest and most historic golf course.

Tom Mackenzie and Martin Ebert are renowned for their expertise and innovation in golf course design. Their impressive portfolio includes roles as named architects for 22 of the top 100 courses in the world outside the USA, as listed by Golf Digest in 2022. Their extensive experience includes work on eight Open Championship venues and their recent award-winning renovation of Hamilton Golf & Country Club, host of the recent Canadian Open.

“Our decision to collaborate with Mackenzie & Ebert was driven by their exceptional track record and their deep understanding of seaside golf courses,” said Richard Ingle, General Manager of Victoria Golf Club, which was founded in 1893 and is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. “We are confident this collaboration will bring significant improvements to the club as we develop our next course master plan that will enhance the playing experience for our members while preserving the unique character of our course.”
