Brittany Higgins and David Sharaz have declared they are “beyond excited” as they dropped some major personal news in a sweet social media post.
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says the redistribution of electoral boundaries announced on Friday will give Labour another seat in Western Australia.
On Friday the electoral boundaries for the next election were drawn up in Victoria and WA.
“Much of the publicity since has been around the Victorian Labor seat of Higgins disappearing but the changes has brought down the margin in Shadow Housing Minister Michael Sukkar’s seat of Deakin to 50-50 and given Labor a show in the seat of Menzies,” Mr Clennell said.
“Liberal sources have spoken about the potential to win up to four seats in WA but … would require very big swings, well above the national average.”
The couple said they were “beyond excited” to welcome a new member to their family, writing a note alongside a cute photo of baby clothes hanging on a clothesline.
“Can’t wait to meet you!” the caption said.
“Beyond excited to welcome a new member to our little family.
“Your parents are already obsessed with you and you aren’t even here yet.”
Well wishers rushed to the comments underneath the post, sending their congratulations to the pair.
“This is RIDICULOUSLY exciting,” one person wrote.
“Congratulations guys! You are going to be the best parents!” another said.
“What a beautiful time ahead for you and David. Congratulations.”
The happy announcement comes after Higgins and Sharaz tied the knot in a lavish private ceremony on the Gold Coast last month.
They exchanged vows surrounded by friends and family at The Valley Estate in the Currumbin Valley, with Higgins wearing a stunning gown by Adelaide-based couture dressmaker Paolo Sebastian.
The couple relocated to France in December last year, farewelling Australia for the new locale of Lunas, a small commune in south of the country.

The picturesque town, known for its limestone plateaus and wooded hills, is home to just 600 people.
The former Liberal staffer has posted a number of happy snaps showing the couple exploring Paris and what looks to be their local area over the past few months.
The news comes as Ms Higgins prepares for the August 2 court date of her defamation battle with Liberal Senator Linda Reynolds.
