“It’s prophetic that I performed (You’re) the Voice with him, then I lost my voice,” Dion said.
“When he sang that song, live, I listened to him a lot. I wanted to sing that song — I will reach out to him because I respect him so much,” Dion said.
“He’s one of my favourite singers of all time. And I just will never forget the gift that he gave me (of singing it).”
Dion said when she was back on stage, she would sing The Beatles’ song Help for Farnham.
“I tell you that, when I’m back on stage and I sing Help, it will be for you, John, for sure. Thank you for that gift.”
On Sunday, new photos emerged of Farnham, 74, at his son Robert’s wedding after he was given the all clear following a cancer battle.
In 2022, the 74-year-old underwent 12-hour surgery after being diagnosed with throat cancer, with doctors removing a tumour from his mouth and reconstructing his jaw.
The pictures revealed just how far Farnham had come since his surgery in wedding photos shared to social media.
At the wedding, Farnham looked relaxed with his hands in his pockets as he posed in photos, including one with his wife Jillian.
Robert Farnham, 44, married Melissa in a ceremony attended by family and friends.
“Shared the happiest moment with my favourite person in the universe and she said I do. Melissa, my life is forever better that you’re a part of it. You looked radiant, beautiful and elegant. I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us and I’m truly honoured to have you by my side as my wife for life,” Robert wrote.
Late last year, Robert said his dad was now “cancer-free” and “really happy”.
Speaking to Sunrise hosts Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington, Robert said his dad was going from strength to strength following the major surgery.
“He’s doing fantastic,” he said on Sunrise.
“Just the other day he was, you know, walking around with his cane and did a little bit of a dance, which was pretty fabulous.
“He’s walking with his dog a lot — so he’s really, really happy.”
The proud son went on to say that his dad had even started singing again.
“He’s doing really good, he’s super positive,” he added.
“Like we’ve said before, cancer is a terrible, terrible thing. And it’s his time to walk that road, but he’s cancer-free.
“And, yeah, he’s doing really, really good. So, it’s very, very good to hear him.
“He sings at home again, the whole thing.”
