So far this year, Apple has brought out the iPad Pro 2024 and iPad Air 2024. Now, some recently discovered backend code suggests several more iPad models could be released later this year.
The code was found by tipster Nicolás Álvarez and leaked by tipster Aaronp613 on X (formerly Twitter).
It lists four models, and speculation suggests the code is for new Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + Cellular versions of the baseline iPad and iPad Mini.
The iPad (11th generation) is tipped to come with an A16 processor, while the iPad Mini (7th generation) could feature an A17 chip.
This would mean a two-generation jump from the chips used in the previous models for both.
The new Apple Intelligence feature set will likely require an A17 Bionic chip or newer, meaning the iPad Mini could support the feature.
The upcoming iPad Mini could feature an M2 chip instead, which is found inside the iPad Air (2024).
In regards to the features and price points, the smaller tablet (Mini) falls in line with the Air.
The discovered identifiers also make mention of tablets that are likely to be killed by Apple, including an updated regular iPad and an M3 iPad Pro.
The current iPad was introduced in 2022, while the latest iPad Mini was released in 2021.
