Charges laid after alleged two-hour crime spree across Melbourne

A 44-year-old man who allegedly committed a two-hour crime spree across Melbourne’s north-east last night has been charged.
Police allege the man broke into four residential and business premises across Fitzroy and Fitzroy North between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.

Officers allege the man stole a number of items, including an iPhone, TV and Apple Airpods.

Police said the man was confronted by occupants at several locations and fled on foot.

He was later arrested on Fenwick Street in Fitzroy North.

The 44-year-old man has been charged with aggravated burglary, burglary and theft.

Detectives said they returned the majority of stolen items to their owners, but are still in possession of a stolen mobile phone and TV.

Anyone who believes they may be the owner of these items has been asked to contact the Richmond Police Station 03 8420 3600.

The man was scheduled to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
