After being “horribly” cheated on, former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo decided she’d never date an athlete again.
All that changed when she met NFL legend and now husband Christian McCaffrey, who she tied the knot with in a lavish ceremony last month.
In her larger-than-life doco-series, The Culpo Sisters, which you can watch for free on 9Now, Olivia admitted her past heartbreaks were “pivotal moments” in her life.
And it all started with one very famous ex-boyfriend, as you can see in the video above.
“After I won Miss Universe, I moved to LA with my boyfriend at the time…” Olivia began.
That boyfriend happened to be singing superstar Nick Jonas. The pair dated for two years from 2013 to 2015.

The actor reveals his insane on-set routine.
“I thought we were going to get married,” she revealed.
Living in an apartment she couldn’t afford, Olivia remembered thinking, “How am I going to pay my rent? I couldn’t even afford my groceries”.
Olivia explained what happened next in the video below:
“It was a serious pivotal moment for me, but it was something that taught me that you can’t give up.”
In the series, the US model was on a video call to her then boyfriend now husband Christian McCaffrey, a San Francisco 49ers running back.
Surprisingly, he’s an athlete, much like another past boyfriend.
“I dated an athlete and that relationship went horribly wrong,” she began. “I was cheated on multiple times… it was so bad.”
Speaking to cameras, Olivia opened up about that point in her life:
“After that relationship, I decided no more athletes, no athletes ever again. But my relationship with Christian is different is so many ways.”

Olivia and Christian tied the knot in June 2024. Joined by their closest family and friends, the pair celebrated a traditional wedding in a stunning 150-year-old chapel.
Olivia was the perfect bride wearing a Dolce & Gabbana long-sleeve gown and 16-foot lace veil.
“I like that Christian’s not immersed in LA world,” Olivia smiled in the series. “It’s grounding, it’s a safe space.
