Chelsea’s Avery Lay (22) passes the ball during a girls basketball game against Freeland on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024.

Avery Lay has done it all for Chelsea’s girls basketball team the past few seasons and will now hope to carry that momentum to the college ranks.

The star junior announced Sunday afternoon on X that she was committing to play for Grand Valley State.

Lay made an immediate impact for the Bulldogs as a freshman and that continued during the next two seasons.

She was named first team all-conference and Ann Arbor Dream Team for the 2023-24 season after averaging 16.5 points, 10 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game.

Lay also shot 61% from the field and was the only player in the Ann Arbor area to average a double-double last season.
