Things are still going strong between Cody Simpson and fellow Aussie swimmer Emma McKeon.
The former pop star and aspiring Olympian waxed lyrical about McKeon during a chat with younger sister Alli on the Apple and the Tree podcast.

The pair were discussing their family’s wild journey through artistic and sporting success when the conversation veered towards Cody’s high-profile romance with McKeon, which blossomed in early 2022.
Cody reflected on leaving school at 14 and moving to the US with his entire family in tow to pursue what would become an immensely successful pop career.
“It was important for mum and dad not to split the family up,” said Alli, who was only 13 at the time, of the whole family decamping to the US.
“They were half expecting it to be a six-month adventure, not a 10-year one,” Cody added jokingly.
When Cody returned to Australia to pursue a different form of achievement as a professional swimmer, his core support circle of family remained.
But new influences and supporters also came in, including McKeon, when he joined the Australian swim team in 2022.
“To be able to share this stuff, Cody, with your partner, I mean that must be great, right?” asked podcast co-host Richard Wilkins.
“She’s one of the greatest,” Cody gushed.
“I learn from her example often.”
He then went on to talk about how “special” their relationship was.
“To be able to have that understanding, that mutual understanding at home and when we’re training is special,” he said.
“To have that kind of connection.
“It’s nice to be able to do it together.”
Asked to give her thoughts on the relationship, Alli said McKeon was “lovely”.
“Emma is just gorgeous and I love that they both have that mutual understanding,” she said, adding that her brother “has never seemed happier, so that’s all we want”.
Both swimmers are hoping to compete at the Paris Olympics next month.
Cody has previously hinted that he might give swimming away, referring to Paris as potentially a “fairytale ending” to his swimming journey.
“A fairytale ending would be nice but it will either happen or it won’t and that is the reality of it,” he told News Corp.
He said the end of his swimming career would come when “when it comes”, but added he had always known what was next in his life.
The musician-turned-swimmer added that he was also excited for McKeon and her journey after Paris.
“Emma has never had life without swimming,” he said.
“I know what it is like (to have another career), but she has never had it, so I’m excited for her to explore her other interests and have the time to do that because she has never had it as a kid.”
He said he was fortunate to have a lot of things to look forward to outside of swimming.
“(I have) another passion and career entirely that I am able to pursue again depending on what I decide on out of the pool,” he said.
“I don’t know what I’ll do yet, but I’ll make that decision later this year.”
