RACE 5: Class 1 Handicap 1305m

SOLAR POWER (1), a son of the underrated and over-performing Taree-based stallion Sebring Sun, has a tidy little CV of six starts for a win, a second, a third and two fifths. The Colt Prosser-trained three-year-old gives every indication that he is ready for the 1305m now and should be in the right part of the track. ORSUM (4), another of the Sebring Sun offspring, sent out all the right signs there at Taree on the Heavy 10 first-up. RUM REVOLUTION (5) caught the eye at Grafton.

BET: Solar Power to win, quinella 1,4.

RACE 6: Maiden Handicap 1005m

DAULTON (1) is a first starter by Casino Prince trained by the aforementioned Colt Prosser. The particular gelding was kept under double-wraps when finishing fifth of 10 in a 940m trial at Grafton on May 16. Ben Looker sticks. MONTE OUT‘N’ABOUT (7) is an I Am Invincible mare out of the stakes-winner Japhils, which accounts for her $475,000 Easter Yearling price tag. Lots and lots to like about her trial combined with the fact that she debuts at home.

BET: Daulton to win., quinella 1,7.

RACE 7: Benchmark 58 1405m

ALLBERIN (7) is a Gerry Harvey-bred daughter of All Too Hard with broodmare sires; Zabeel, Danehill, At Talaq etc. Best of all, her third dam is Skating. As for Allberin, she has been with Fleur Blanch for her past two starts only and went third followed by a win – both of them barnstormers! This suits – a lot! RUN RORY RUN (5) has raced seven times on Heavy tracks for three wins and two seconds. GOBBLED (1) and NOBLE MISSILE (2) are the best horses in the race but weighted up.

BET: Allberin to win.

RACE 8: Class 2 Handicap 1005m

ROMMEL’S WOLF (2) has two wins and two seconds from his only six starts. For the record, he is ‘1221’ in his four starts for Coffs Harbour trainer Brad Munro. The query with the horse is that four of his six starts are on Good, the other two were on the synthetic down in Victoria. Funny thing is that he is bred to be a swimmer. THE WOLF (3) seems to be better on top of the ground but his numbers are so compelling. SHE’S A REVOLUTION (14) is a very lightly-raced but well-credentialed daughter of mudlark, Russian Revolution.

BET: Rommel’s Wolf to win.

WAGGA BEST BET

Race 6 No.3 TAP ‘N’ RUN
Six-time winner who is comfortable in better grade than this. Will be charging home.

WAGGA NEXT BEST

Race 8 No.4 LETME ENTERTAINYOU
Won by almost seven-lengths on the Riverside last start. Always shown talent.

WAGGA VALUE

Race 4 No.6 MISS BATURINA
Ran a PB at her first run for the new stable. Might be ready and able to go on with it.

INSIDE MAIL – WAGGA

RACE 5: Benchmark 58 1000m

PROPHET TIME (8) has only won twice in her 25 starts but she has placed nine times, five of them are seconds. On top of that, even when she misses out on a medal, she is invariably on their heels and frequently in ‘good races’. HULM (5) – to the great credit of trainer Ross Purcell – won first-up on Wagga Town Plate day 18-months between runs and a change of stable! He followed that up with a nose-ish second at Albury. Drawn wide but has Jeff Penza.

BET: Prophet Time to win.

RACE 6: Benchmark 82 1400m

TAP ‘N’ RUN (3) and BALEDON (4) are Ron Stubbs-trained stablemates from Albury, both in the perfect race for each horse. They are very similar in a lot of ways. Both of them are six-year-olds, Tap ‘N’ Run has won six from 31, Baledon is five from 23 at this point. It is close enough to a toss of the coin job, could come down to luck, best ride and how much we get on the day. If it happened to pour, ASTUNNER (6) has two wins and a second from three Heavy runs.

BET: Tap ‘N’ Run to win, exacta 3 to beat 4, Daily Double 1st Leg (3), 2nd (4).

RACE 7: Benchmark 58 2000m

HEROMANIA (1) is flying and IMHO, is the best horse in the race. That said, he has 61.5kgs to carry over 2000m on a potentially wet track on Friday which really brings him back to the field. Still, you’d take Jeff Penza every day, especially on this horse. MAYFAIR HOTEL (15) is a very, very inviting bet at $12 and $3.8 as she was at time of writing. Wayne Carroll has given her a Bart Cummings-like build up to this race and the horse itself just keeps on improving with every run. Been waiting to see PHOTO MAN (12) get out to 2000m.

BET: Heromania to win, Mayfair Hotel each-way, Photo Man to place, box trifecta 1,4,12,15.

RACE 8: Class 2 Handicap 1200m

LETME ENTERTAINYOU (4) is one for the Robbie Williams fans and more so the breeding fans. This filly is worth plenty given her third dam is Steam Heat who also happens to be the same third dam of Yes Yes Yes and In Her Time. Letme Entertainyou was building up to a win and what a win; he led throughout on the Riverside and out seven lengths on them. HOLD (7) is a talent. She won like a ‘good horse’ first-up and while runner-up after that, she was taking ground of the winner who was none other than last Saturday’s Highway hero Miss Jennifer.

BET: Letme Entertainyou to win, quinella 4,7.
