Police were called to the home on Menzies Rd just after 10.20am following “concern for welfare” reports.

7NEWS was told Carrig’s son woke to discover the bodies in separate rooms before calling triple-0.

A close friend of the family, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, said he was “hysterical” when he learnt of the news.

“I just dropped the phone and came over here … and yeah, I’ve been losing it,” he told 7NEWS.

“There is no way to make sense of it, I don’t know what to think.”

The man spoke of Jennifer’s kind nature after she had previously taken him.

“She turned my life around … and to see this happen, it’s just crazy,” he said.

“She was like my second mum and (name redacted) was like my little sister.

“We all took care of her, we loved her, we even had our own little handshake… I’d do anything for that kid.”

Neighbours described Carrig as “very friendly and very nice”.

“I’m just totally in shock, I’m a bit shaken,” one said.

“We didn’t hear any noise, nothing at all.”

Forensic officers were seen carrying evidence bags on Thursday afternoon, stepping over police tape across the driveway of the two-storey brick home on Menzies Rd.

A swing set and netted trampoline could be seen in the home’s front yard as detectives moved about the scene, one of them inspecting what appeared to be a surveillance camera.

A crime scene has been established in the quiet suburban area, with police awaiting a post-mortem examination as they investigate the deaths.

7NEWS has been told there is no ongoing threat to the public.
