On half way, Dane Gagai was being dragged into touch, but managed to get a very late offload away.
But there wasn’t a Knight in Newcastle who was paying attention, and Sorensen got the ball back.
The Panthers then basically marched the 50m to the goal line for Smith to power over the top of two defenders.

Knights great Andrew Johns suggested it was a tired end to the half.
“Ten or fifteen metres from the play the ball, the Knights’ players are shoulder-to-shoulder,” he explained for Nine.
“There is no spacing at all in the way they are defending. The pass gets across four or five defenders and Luai skips … to the next gap and the spaces just get bigger and bigger and bigger the further you get out.”
